Picture finding a dependable roofing partner and landing upon a company that acts as though your roof were its very own. That is us at Houston Roofing Contractors. We have spent years perfecting our act, missing not a single note of our roof-making service. Our service is so good, in fact, that our loyal clientele often gives us the highest compliments a roofing company could hope for. When they reference our name, it is often accompanied by words like "trustworthy" and "reliable," which makes us feel good inside. Because we know that feeling good inside is what helps keep the roof over our heads intact.
Consider your roof to be the unsung champion, quietly withstanding the bracing forces of nature. We hold its design and material choices in the highest regard. Our conversations are all about trust, and we infuse that into every project we do. We know that this area's weather can be brutal. Simple choices make a huge difference in the kind of experience you have with your roof. We work with the best possible systems, like asphalt shingle roofing, that give you the kind of durability and good looks that a real roof embodies.
Let's sketch an image of assurance and ease—two essentials you desire from your roofing contractor. In Spring, our narrative is one of trust, built slowly over time and through innumerable roofing jobs. It’s in how we communicate, offering crystal-clear clarity when the situation calls for it. It's in the meticulousness we display with every installation, from the small details (like showing up on time) to the monumental ones (like guaranteeing that you have a secure rooftop). We've come to understand that nothing is worth more than peace of mind.

At Houston Roofing Contractors, we believe your family’s narrative begins at home. So when it comes to putting an asphalt shingle roof over that home, we think it’s more like storytelling than roofing (though there are certainly some as-yet-undiscovered characters in our roofing craft that lend it a bit of mystery). The story of your roof begins with not-so-simple Texas weather, which must be factored into the not-so-easy equation of making a roof that looks good—every time you come home, you want that roofline seriously impressive—and also holds up good and strong against the elements.
We like to keep things casual yet effective when it comes to lending a hand to you. Picture this: You're drinking your morning coffee, listening to the rain, and you're blissfully aware that everything up there is "as solid as the rock of Gibraltar." And seriously, who wouldn't find joy in that? Let us simplify (make that a simple 3-step process), and allow us to make it as seamless as your morning routine.
Our crew doesn't merely punch a time card. We take the materials we work with seriously, enjoying the effort and the design challenges they present. Our mainstay is asphalt shingles. Resilient and varied, these things are the proverbial bread and butter of our roofing world. Denver-based G|A provides the sort of design assurance that makes dreaming up an expression for your home's top half feel comfy and cozy—similar to a well-loved flannel shirt. You can simultaneously express yourself and have peace of mind regarding the performance of your roof, which is not a thing to take lightly.
Your comfort starts with a conversation. Reach out to us by phone or through our online booking form to schedule your free, no-obligation consultation. One of our experienced HVAC specialists will visit your home or business at a convenient time to assess your heating, cooling, and ventilation needs. We take the time to understand your goals, inspect your current system (if applicable), and answer any questions you may have. Whether you're replacing an old unit or installing a new system, our team ensures we start with a solid understanding of your space and your expectations.
After the initial consultation, our experts design a system tailored to your unique environment. We consider factors like square footage, insulation, window placement, and your energy efficiency preferences to recommend the best HVAC solution. We then present you with a detailed, transparent estimate outlining all costs involved — no hidden fees or surprises. Our proposal includes equipment specifications, timeline, and warranty information. We’re happy to walk you through every line of the estimate so you feel confident moving forward.
Once you approve the plan, our licensed and insured technicians take over. We schedule the installation at a time that works best for you and carry out the work with minimal disruption to your daily routine. Our team ensures every component is installed to the highest industry standards and tests the system thoroughly before completion. After installation, we provide a full walkthrough of your new HVAC system, show you how to use it, and discuss maintenance tips. You also gain access to our dedicated support team and service plans to keep your system running smoothly year-round.
The vibrancy of springtime in Houston has an unmistakable quality, a sense of an all-out renewal. Just as blossoms burst forth with color, so may your home be calling for change. If that change involves your roof, you're in the market for materials and look. And you're by no means limited to just asphalt shingles. The first question, really, is what works with your home's style. Classic three-tab shingles might suit a more traditional housing style; the stuff that's sold as "architectural" shingles these days offers much more punch, dimension, and durability; therefore, it'll be a substantially better option for a contemporary-style house.
The backyard is where we gather as a family; it’s where we hold the wedding, baptism, and memorial services that never seem to stop. It’s where the lemonade stand makes its summer debut, and it’s where my neighbor and I, every August, devise a Rube Goldbergian method for lifting a half dozen frozen turkeys to the tops of our respective roofs so we can fully insulate our not-so-winterized homes.
The Texan sun is about to show its power, so you need shingles that can take the heat and keep your house cool.
Selecting shingles should involve more than just expressing your personal style. "There are literally hundreds of varieties from which to choose," says Scott Quarry, owner of the Quarry Roof Company in El Cerrito, California. Most roofing manufacturers offer many different colors and textures, so the next factor beyond personal taste is your home's specific requirements.
Visualize this as you ponder your options: you want more than your flower beds to elicit admiration from your neighbors; you want them to look a little higher and admire that nifty roof of yours too.
Understanding the local weather changes enables you to choose shingles that will last.
Now you may be asking, what about Mother Earth? Nowadays, the concept of sustainability is more vital than ever. So choose roofing materials that, when they reach the end of their lifespan, can be recycled and used to provide something else with its own roof. At least that's how it seems to shake out regarding asphalt shingles. I could go into the weeds a bit more and talk about algae resistance with some of these suckers. Algae resistance is nice, considering how the dampness in Houston's perpetual rain machine is primed to produce an aquatic garden of mold and mildew on your roof. Okay, with all these options and potential decisions adding up, what are we even talking about as far as costs? Well, take a deep breath; this is going to hurt a little.
Whether you do it yourself or hire someone to do it for you, investing in anything but the cheapest option upfront is likely to pay off in lower costs for repairs and replacements over the roof's lifespan.
Decades of experience greet you at your front door, ensuring that you and your asphalt shingle roofing project are in very> capable hands. Should you have a simple repair need or a full replacement requirement, we've repaired and replaced those shingles, skillfully and faithfully. Count on our expertise to take your project through a smooth and surprise-free process from beginning to end.
Selecting us means investing in top-notch shingles that are tough enough to face Spring's whims. Our roofs withstand the elements, so you don't have to think about them—and, by extension, their adorable but nonetheless annoying leak potential—until next year's inspection. The way we see it, that's peace of mind, and it has a pretty nice return on investment.
Having a firm footing in the Spring community, we know the intimate details of your local roofing climate. We’re not just another company; we’re your friends and neighbors. We listen to you. We provide you with the kinds of solutions that are as unique and personalized as each character in our pantheon of clients. With the community insights we have, we make sure your roof is the kind of roof people will notice—if only because they’re supposed to notice roofs, which are kind of the unsung heroes of the housing world.
Your time is precious, and that is why we have made our process as efficient as possible. From the first consultation to the last installation, we work at a hurried pace without ever trimming the seams. You'll hardly have time to finish a cup of coffee before we're completed, and in that time, the process was as stress-free as we could make it.
Re-shingling your roof is a project best suited for late spring to early fall. Why is this? Well, when the weather is milder and temperatures are anywhere from the 40s to 80s, that's a good time to work with asphalt shingles, which need to be warm enough to seal down properly, or cool enough that you can walk on them without worry. But if you work with them when they're hot, and try to get them to seal down in the 90-degree weather, you risk working with a product that's too hot to handle, and that also has a tendency to not seal down like it should.Likewise, if you're trying to get the shingles to fall flat along the eaves, and they're too cold, or you've waited too long in the afternoon, or it's too cold in the morning, that's not a good recipe for a roof that is going to work well.
In spring, embrace a proactive strategy to safeguard your asphalt shingle roof. Begin by examining the roof for any winter-induced harm, such as missing or compromised shingles. Ensure your gutters and downspouts are spotless to permit water to flow away from your roof and minimize any risk of water backup and associated leakage. Also, trim any tree branches that overhang your roof; they're a source of debris and, should a branch come down, a potential hazard to your roof's integrity. Lastly, check the surfaces of your roof for any signs of moss or algae. While these might seem innocuous (or even pretty), they can lead to serious problems if left unchecked.
Asphalt shingles have a couple of disadvantages. One is that they tend to have a shorter lifespan than lots of other types of roofing materials, even when you look at the lower end of the 30-year range that some of those materials quote. Thus, you might not always feel like you're getting your money's worth. And even when they are new, they're not particularly resilient. If you happen to live in a place that regularly sees high winds, or if you're simply a fan of regularly scheduled severe thunderstorms, you're generally more likely to need to get your roof repaired or replaced in the aftermath of one of those kinds of events.
Generally, you can shingle a roof in Spring until daily temperatures consistently stay above 45-50°F (7-10°C) to ensure that asphalt shingles will seal properly and the adhesives will activate. Sometimes this is a regional thing, but in most of the northern U.S., roofing can be done from late March to late April.
Roofing should not be attempted when temperatures are below 40°F (4°C). That is because cold makes asphalt shingles brittle. A shingle that's cracked or broken not only fails to keep the roof watertight, but it can also put the roof components that should keep the roof watertight under unnecessary stress. Avoid shingling a roof in any temperature lower than that.
Replacing an asphalt shingle roof in spring mostly means working in dry weather. This is why, if you're replacing the roof in May, you want it to go as smoothly as possible and as quickly as the roofing pros can manage. The next best choice after this spring month is September. For the same reasons you want this roof removal and replacement to happen in May, you also want it to happen in September if it has to happen at all in spring or fall.
It's not a good idea to try to install a roof in heavy rain, intense heat, or strong wind. Spring can be a good roofing season, but any day of the 'good' roofing season isn't so good if the weather is severe. Additionally, extremely low or high temperatures can affect how flexible the roofing materials are and how well the roofing crews are able to make the installation work. So, moderate overall temperatures with no precipitation and no extreme weather are the best conditions for roofing.
Asphalt shingles usually require several days to a week or two to seal properly. They attach and seal best in warm, sunny weather, and they take longer to seal in cool, cloudy, or overcast conditions. One of the most important factors in having shingles work properly is for the sealing strip to bond effectively to the shingle underneath it. Once that happens, the shingles will stick and seal as they're supposed to.
Installing asphalt shingles in 40-degree weather is indeed possible, but certain aspects should be considered closely. For one, cold weather can make shingles very brittle and very easy to crack during installation. To counter this, handle with care and, if possible, store the bundles in the warmest area of the job site prior to installation. Additionally, make sure that the adhesive strips are sufficiently warm, which likely means that the shingles need to be sunbaked or at least in very marginally warmer ambient temperatures to get the bonding process fully activated. All of this adds up to a rather murky labor scenario where one has to exercise a good amount of judgment for a successful install. Nonetheless, many contractors have done it, and so can you. With adequate safety precautions in place, anyway.
The typical cost to replace 1,000 square feet of asphalt shingle roofing ranges from $3,000 to $6,000. This estimate includes materials, labor, and getting rid of the old shingles. But the price can go up or down depending on:- the quality of the shingles you choose, - the rates your local roofers charge, - how easy or hard your roof is to work on, - and anything extra you want done (or need done) to your roof.
